Store-bought granola bars can be filled with preservatives and added junk. With this simple, no-bake recipe from our Juicery Kitchen Chef, you can make your own nutrient-dense bars. With the infinite possibilities for flavors and variations, these bars are perfect snacks for your little ones!
Homemade Granola Bars:
makes about 5 or 6 bars
1/4 cup maple syrup, agave or local honey
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup rolled oats (not quick!)
1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins
1/2 cup hulled pumpkin or sunflower seeds
pinch of ground cinnamon – or more to taste
Heat sweetener with peanut butter on low heat and stir until it reaches a smooth consistency (Do not heat on high or overcook). Add in vanilla and remove from heat. In a separate bowl, combine rolled oats, dried fruit, seeds, and a pinch of cinnamon. Add the warm wet mix to the dry and stir until evenly blended. Lightly spray an 8x4x2 loaf pan with natural cooking spray and press the granola mix evenly in it. Place in refrigerator until cool then cut into bars and enjoy! Wrap individual bars in wax paper and keep refrigerated. Simple, healthy, and quick! You can be creative with this recipe and add other ingredients as you like.
